What made you decide to work in the APS?
It was a great opportunity to influence the future of Australians for the better while also pursuing my sporting goals.
What other areas in DAWE would you like to work in?
The 2 areas I would like to work in our biosecurity and trade.
When you graduated from university, what were your goals for your future?
My immediate goals were to work in an interesting workplace that enabled me to pursue my career in hockey while also expanding on the knowledge and skills I learned while at university.
How has DAWE helped you achieve these goals so far?
DAWE has been extremely flexible and accommodating to my hockey commitments, and through my rotations and graduate learnings, I have learnt an incredible amount of technical and theoretical skills, as well as many soft skills that have helped me improve both in my career and personal life.
What was your dream job as a kid?
I always wanted to be a builder (I loved Bob the Builder).
What would be your dream job now?
Not too sure I’m still trying to work that out now! Probably something that involves a mix of hands-on work, face to face interaction and administration work.
What would be your dream achievement in your working life?
Leading a team of colleagues to achieve something great!
What do you value most in a job?
I value an environment that will challenge me to improve and be better. I also value having the opportunity to have a flexible schedule to fit in with other things in my life.
If you could have another career, what would it be in?
Sport and exercise science or psychology.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
I love playing hockey and am pursuing this at a professional level. This often involves multiple training sessions a week at different times of the day and time away from work for tournaments and camps.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years' time?
I would like to see myself playing for the Australian national hockey team (the Kookaburras) while also working professionally in a senior/leadership position.
